| There are many varieties and forms of H. paniculata on the market these days. One of my favorites is 'Limelight.' A few of the pictures below were sent to me by gardens who have visited this site. I welcome any pictures you may have - especially those of new hydrangea varieties. Two paniculatas I would like a picture of are Hydrangea paniculata 'Starlight' and Hydrangea paniculata 'White Swan.' Have you taken a picture of one of these two hydrangeas? |

MORE ON PANICULATAS (1) Unlike other hydrangeas, paniculatas may be grown in full sun if they receive adequate moisture. However, they prefer a little shade during the hottest part of the afternoon in the deep south, especially if conditions are on the dry side. (2) ) Unlike other hydrangeas, paniculatas make beautiful little trees. When purchasing a paniculata to be used as a tree, it is important to find a plant with a strong central trunk. Many paniculatas are sold already pruned to a tree shape (such as the one on the right), and others can be pruned to this shape (see tiny shrub below left).
(3)Paniculatas can be pruned (see Method II) at ANY time other than immediately before they are to bloom. |
